Founded in 1990 by Robert Roper, Roper & Associates was established with a clear vision: to become a leading property valuation firm in KwaZulu-Natal and its surrounding regions. More than 30 years later, that vision continues to guide our work.

Over three decades, we have delivered property valuations across South Africa for a diverse client base spanning multiple industries. Meet the Roper & Associates Team

Nicki Sargent – Business Partner (Managing Member / Appraiser and with the company since 1993)

With over 3 decades of experience, Nicki has both practical and academic knowledge on property valuations. She has extensive experience in research methodology and valuation report writing of the highest standards. In addition to her broad base of valuation and administrative skills, she provides training to the candidate valuers on a daily basis and manages and makes critical decisions on behalf of the business. She is responsible for planning, directing and overseeing the operations and financial health of the business. Her role also includes planning and maintaining work systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage the optimum performance of the staff and other resources within the business.

Dhiresh Gunpath – Business Partner (Professional Valuer and with the company since 2000)

Dhiresh, was mentored by Robby Roper since 2000, when he joined the Roper & Associates team. After matriculating at Lakehaven Secondary School, he pursued studies in Architecture at M.L. Sultan Technikon (now Durban University of Technology) and thereafter Property Valuations at UNISA. Having started at Roper & Associates as a candidate valuer, Dhiresh gained vast experience in different aspects of valuations and is now the Principal Valuer and Senior Partner of the company. After working as an architectural technologist and a real estate broker for 6 years, Dhiresh moved to valuation on a full time basis. The experience he gained over more than 2 decades include valuations for mortgage lending, purchase, sale, litigation, financial reporting/ auditing, municipal valuation objections/ appeals, municipal valuations of specialised properties, insurance valuations and expropriation amongst other purposes. The different types of valuations undertaken and experience gained include but not limited to Commercial, Industrial, Retail Centres, Residential (freehold, sectional title, share-block, larger developments/ estates, blocks of flats) and Specialised Properties (petrol filling stations, hospitals, cold storage facilities, schools, churches, etc.). In valuations, his motto is you do it every day, so you will do it the best you can.

Joslynn Pillay – Business Partner (Finance Department and with the company since 2005)

Joslynn has 24 years of experience in accounting, auditing and taxation background in Financial and statutory reporting in terms of IFRS and gained academic valuation knowledge over the years. She has deep analytical skills and this has held her in good stead to maintain a hands-on approach to the financial health of the company as well as all other key admin responsibilities.

She assists to develop strategies and plans for the long-term financial goals of the company, oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objects, and design frameworks for these to be met. Thereby, ensuring the smooth running of the business.

 

 

Kedusha Ramnarian – Business Partner (Professional Associated Valuer)

Kedusha has over 20 years of experience in the property industry. Often referred to as a property strategist, Kedusha has gained extensive knowledge and experience in research methodology and valuation report writing. Her sought-after skills lie in her practical and theoretical understanding of the essential aspects of real estate valuations which guides her in her conduction of property valuations of the highest standard.

There are many integral skills required in the dynamic business environment we operate in today. Kedusha believes that the relationship between valuation theory/admin with practice is reciprocal. She has a fresh approach in the industry and strongly believes that the theoretical aspects of the property  profession helps improve and guide better decision making in the practical aspects of the profession and also ensures a better quality of valuation reports. This is where Kedusha’s core strengths lie. This is her difference !

Neil Jones – Business Partner & Professional Associated Valuer with the company since June 2017

Neil has over 20 years’ experience in the real estate industry, with broad-based knowledge acquired through study and practice in various sectors including: valuation, construction, management, as well as residential, commercial and industrial sales & rentals. He holds a National Diploma in Property Practice from the University of South Africa, specializing in Property Valuation, and trained under the mentorship of two renowned Professional Valuers; Dave Furness and Robby Roper.

Though focusing primarily on commercial & industrial valuations, he relishes the nuances of specialized properties such as hotels, schools, cold storage facilities, filling stations and hospitals etc. Neil joined the team with the objective of strengthening the in-house valuer contingent and increasing the overall efficiency and productivity of the company.

Mbali Nkosi – (Administration Assistant with the company since January 2020). Mbali joined us from eDeaf to assist with administration and has been a wonderful addition to our team, inspiring us all to learn sign language and improve our communication skills.

Daniel Jansen Van Vuuren – Professional Valuer

Daniel joined Roper & Associates in 2006 at the outset of his studies and has since built a strong and respected career within the firm. Under the mentorship of founder Rob Roper, he completed his diploma in 2010 and qualified as a full Professional Valuer in 2014.

Over the years, Daniel has gained extensive experience across a broad spectrum of property types including residential, commercial, industrial, and specialised properties. He is well versed in applying a wide range of valuation methodologies and approaches, ensuring that each valuation is tailored to the specific characteristics of the property and the requirements of the assignment.

Daniel’s depth of technical knowledge, combined with his practical experience and attention to detail, enables him to deliver accurate, well-supported valuations in a dynamic and ever-changing property market. His commitment to professional standards and continuous learning makes him a trusted advisor to clients and colleagues alike.
